In the event of a fire, the generation of smoke presents one of
the major hazards. It is essential to control the spread of
smoke, ducting it as quickly as possible to outlets designed for
this purpose.
The traditional solution to this problem has been the
installation of fabric smoke curtains. Such curtains require
regular operation and maintenance and, in certain applications,
the movement of merchandise which otherwise may be damaged by
dust fall.
AS an alternative solution to the problem
of smoke control, Securiglass has designed and developed
SMOKESTREAM glazed smoke curtains.
SMOKESTREAM is a passive smoke control system. It uses clear
fire resistant glass, Pyrocet, suspended below ceiling level,
forming a permanent barrier to eliminate the spread of smoke to
other parts of the building whilst ducting it to extraction
points.
SMOKESREAM has been designed to be as
unobtrusive, yet as effective the, as possible, allowing greater
design flexibility and avoiding the on-costs associated with
fabric smoke curtains.
